Years ago， the mottle effect (Antiquing) was put on by hand. Today it is applied by a machine to the crust. The leather passes through the machine several times at different angles to achieve the desired look. The skins are then finished out as normal. It is true to say that like a hand finished version, no two skins are alike because of the angled passes through the machine.
